Obituary of Walter Foltz

Mr. Walter Foltz, 82, of 19310 Clemmets Rd., Centerville died at 2:30 PM on Friday, January 06, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. Mr. Foltz was born on May 15, 1929 in Sharpsville to the late William W. and Anna Reedenaur Foltz. He married Alice Lee on July 3, 1954 at the McCray United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of the former Bloomfield High School, class of 1947. Mr. Foltz served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1949 to 1952 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal. He returned home and helped build the Snap-Tite facility in Union City which ultimately led to his working for the company as a machinist for 42 years. He retired in 1994. During those years Mr. Foltz was proud to have made tools for several Apollo missions, as well as, for the Navy’s underwater sea lab. Mr. Foltz was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church where he was active in the choir, a Sunday school teacher, Trustee, and Chairman of the church council. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved being with his entire family. He also enjoyed farming, bowling, hunting, and in his younger days was an avid baseball and basketball player. Mr. Foltz is survived by his wife Alice Foltz of Centerville; two children, Debora Laird and husband Skip of Centerville, Curtis W. Foltz and wife Catherine of Clarion; five grandchildren, Adrianne Hunt and husband Kevin of Warren, Deven Laird and wife Megan of Leeper, Alissa Fuller and husband Gavin of Centerville, Dylan Foltz a Senior at Penn State University, Leland Foltz stationed with the US Navy in Hawaii; one brother, Donald Foltz and wife Patricia of Lincolnville; one sister, Ruth Lindsay Beck of Albuquerque, NM; three sisters-in-law, Lorraine Foltz of Wesbury United Methodist Community, Sandra Foltz of Union City, Doris Foltz of Mt. Airy, NC; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Foltz in 1968; three brothers, Warren Foltz, Robert Foltz, Daniel Foltz; and three sisters, Vivian Grable, Naomi Sexton and Charlotte Donor. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the Centerville United Methodist Church on Tuesday at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Centerville.
