Obituary of Margaret A. MacQuarrie
Mrs. Margaret A. “Peg” MacQuarrie, 86, formerly of Titusville, died Friday morning February 17, 2012 at her daughter’s residence in Tionesta.Peg was born on July 24, 1925 at Titusville, PA, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Veness Tuck Reynolds. She was previously married to William J. MacQuarrie on Nov. 12, 1949. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1992.
Peg was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1944. She had been employed at the former Riverside Market in Titusville for over 25 years until her retirement in 1992.
Peg had attended St. Walburga Church. She enjoyed camping at the lot at Mystic Park from 1946 until 2002. She enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, campfires, and monitoring the high water on Oil Creek at Mystic Park. She also enjoyed doing word searches, reading and playing cards. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. MacQuarrie is survived by a daughter, Pat Bowles of Tionesta with whom she resided for the past two years; a son, Bruce MacQuarrie of West Hickory; four grandchildren, Amy Carll and husband Doug of Tionesta, Mandy Rice and husband Travis of Centerville, A.J. MacQuarrie and wife Teshia of Sunville, and Kristen Snyder and husband Justin of Pleasantville; five great grandchildren, Ethan and Alexa Carll, Taylor, Addison, and Chase MacQuarrie; two step grandchildren, Dustin and Megan Rice; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth C. “Betty” Donovan.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 1 to 4 PM and attend the funeral service there on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Marshall Lillie, chaplain with Hospice of Crawford County, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice of Crawford County 310 N. Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354.
