Obituary of Helen A. Fish
Mrs. Helen A. Fish, 89, formerly of Pleasantville, died Friday morning March 9, 2012 at The Village at Luther Square in Erie following an extended illness.
Mrs. Fish was born on December 10, 1922 at Butler, PA, a daughter of the late Bernard and Helen Morrow Hanlon.
Mrs. Fish was a graduate of Tionesta High School, class of 1942. She had been employed at GTE Sylvania in Pleasantville in the assembly department for 27 years until her retirement in January of 1986.
Mrs. Fish was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Pleasantville since 1981. She was a member of the Pleasantville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary; a member of the Pleasantville Women’s Club; and a member of the Titusville Business and Professional Women’s Club. She had also been a volunteer with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in Pleasantville. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, flower gardening, and cooking.
She is survived by two children, Carol Fish of Erie, and David L. Fish and wife Rhea of Pleasantville; five grandchildren, Michele Averill Miller and husband Jerry of Erie, Ryan C. Fish of Uniontown, OH, Andrew F. Fish and wife Jennifer of Pleasantville, Lindsay K. Jelmberg and husband Josh of Palm Desert, CA, and Kory F. Fish of Philipsburg; three great grandchildren, Caleb, Andrew, and Logan Fish; a sister, Mary Harmon of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Prentice DeWayne “Wayne” Fish and his wife Jody K. Fish; two brothers, Bernard A Hanlon, Jr. and Leo A. Hanlon; and two sisters, Bettie Lebow and Jean Covell.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 13th from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. Timothy Maybray, pastor of the Titusville Free Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Neilltown Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association 1128 State Street Suite 301 Erie, PA 16501.
