Obituary of Kathryn A. Tracey
Mrs. Kathryn A. “Kay” Tracey, 85, of 410 E. Elm Street Titusville, died Monday afternoon June 28, 2010 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Kay was born on June 8, 1925 in Titusville, a daughter of the late John and Marian O’Brien Cartney. She was married to Kenneth D. Tracey on Sept. 30, 1943 at Cumberland, MD. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1998.
Kay was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1943.
She was a member of St. Walburga Church; was an avid reader; enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren; and enjoyed lunching with her sisters and sisters-in-law.
Kay is survived by four children, Michael Tracey and his wife Carla of Titusville, Mary Cauvel and her husband Keith of Zelienople, Mark Tracey and his wife Susan of Titusville, and Elaine Dymond and her husband Jake of New Brighton; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; four sisters, Ruth Stewart and husband Donald of Hydetown, Sue Slagle and husband Donald of Titusville, Helen Quimby and husband Wayne of Titusville, and Jane Sargent and husband Tom of Brooklyn Park, MN; five sisters-in-law, Patty Cartney, Mary Carol Cartney, Ann Cartney, all of Titusville, Carol Cartney of Bowie, MD and Jane Cartney of Annapolis, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Kay was preceded in death by a daughter, Aileen Tracey; a granddaughter, Renee Carson; two sisters, Margaret Hoffman and Frances Myers; and seven brothers, William, Thomas, Michael, Dennis, James, Patrick, and John N. Cartney, Jr.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 AM at St. Walburga Church with Fr. Matthew Ruyechan as celebrant.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of one’s choice.
