Obituary of Lyle R. Magee
Lyle R. Magee, 78, of 41726 Thompson Run Rd. Titusville, died Friday evening May 11, 2012 at the Meadville Medical Center.
Lyle was born on Nov. 19, 1933 at Rome Twp., Crawford County, a son of the late Cletus and Luella Shorts Magee. He was married to Marian Hicks on Jan. 22, 1966 at Centerville. She preceded him in death on March 18, 2009. He was previously married to JoAnn Lingo.
Lyle had attended the Townville area schools. He had been employed at the former Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. from 1952 until his retirement in 1984. He had also served a number of years ago as constable at Centerville.
Lyle was a social member of both the Cleo J. Ross Post No. 368 American Legion and of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. He was also a member of the Quarter Century Club of Cyclops.
He enjoyed watching Team Blair Racing at all the local dirt tracks, and spending time with his family.
Lyle is survived by the following children; Diana Johns and her husband Barry of Centerville, Shirley Proper and her husband Joe of Titusville, Bruce Magee of Erie, Colleen Sue Loney and her husband William of Titusville, and Faye Wescoat and her husband David of Titusville; 19 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandsons; a daughter-in-law, Carol McCann of Centerville; a brother, Floyd Magee and his wife Helen of Centerville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald “Butch” McCann on Sept. 9, 2011; a brother, Art Magee; and five sisters, Marian Lawrence, Maxine Weaver, Velma Proper, Evelyn Mannigan, and Leona Schmidt.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
