Obituary of John P. Labow

John P. Labow, 80, of 276 Park Ave. E. Titusville, died Friday afternoon May 11, 2012 at UPMC Hamot in Erie. Mr. Labow was born on November 3, 1931 at Youngstown, OH, a son of the late Paul and Mary Kraesko Labow. He was married to Bettie Hanlon on April 15, 1961 at St. Walburga Church in Titusville. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2001. John was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1950. He had been employed at the former Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville as a tester in the lab from 1956 until his retirement in 1994. He had previously been employed at a furniture factory in Mayville, NY after his graduation from high school. John was a member of St. Titus Church. He was a past social member of both the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion. He was also a former member of the Eagles Club. He enjoyed hunting and working in his yard. John is survived by a son, Stephen L. Labow of Titusville; a granddaughter, Shalesha Labow of Meadville; and a great grandson, Cayden Brown. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant sister. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Walburga Church with Fr. Walter Packard as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
