Obituary of Joan Cramer
Mrs. Joan Cramer, 90, of 320 W. Walnut St. Titusville, died Saturday afternoon May 19, 2012 at the Meadville Medical Center.
Mrs. Cramer was born on June 29, 1921 at Reynoldsville, PA, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Reed McKillop. She was married to John C. Cramer on June 29, 1941 at Hancock, MD.
Mrs. Cramer was a graduate of Reynoldsville High School, class of 1939. She was also a graduate of Edinboro State College in 1963 earning her bachelor’s degree in elementary education. She continued her education at Edinboro and earned her master’s degree in 1965. She had been employed with the Titusville School District for 30 years until her retirement in 1993. She had taught at the Cherrytree school, Main Street school, Elm Street school, but mostly at the Pleasantville Elementary school.
Mrs. Cramer was a member of the First Baptist Church where she served as organist for 40 years. She was a former member of the Titusville Lioness Club, of the Pleasantville Women’s Club, and of the Titusville BPW. She was a member of the national educational sorority chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed traveling, having visited all 50 states, as well as overseas.
Mrs. Cramer is survived by her husband of Titusville; three children, Jone C. Reagle and husband Terol of Titusville, Kay J. Cobb and husband Hugh of Alexandria, VA, and Jackie J. Cramer of Titusville; three grandchildren, Teri Lynne Mehaffie of Camp Hill, Susan Ireland of Germany and Wendy Garland of Indonesia; four great grandchildren, Kathryn Mehaffie, Kathy Ireland, Chloe and Cassie Garland; and several nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Reed McKillop; and a sister, Josephine Rittenhouse and an infant sister, Margaret McKillop.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jeff Sterling of the Atlantic Community Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Reynoldsville Cemetery.
