Obituary of Wayne T. Johnson

Wayne T. “Pete” Johnson, 78, of 43041 Gilson Ridge Rd. Titusville, died Sunday, July 4, 2010 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh. Mr. Johnson was born on July 14, 1931 at Sharpsburg, PA, a son of the late Roy and Mary Martin Johnson. He was married to Patricia Cornell on Aug. 2, 1956 in Centerville by Rev. Charles Fuller. Mr. Johnson had attended the Titusville schools. He was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Aug. 20, 1948 at Erie, PA. He was honorably discharged on June 13, 1952 at Indiantown Gap, PA. Mr. Johnson was a construction worker in his earlier years. He also worked for Sanida Dairy Co. as a truck driver for 15 years and later drove truck for the Titusville Dairy. He was last employed at Cherry Hill Furniture in Union City for 15 years until his retirement in 1990. Mr. Johnson had attended Faith Community Church. He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW in Titusville. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt fan and enjoyed listening to country western music. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of Titusville; a sister, Marlene Smith of Titusville; three brothers, John Johnson and his wife Ethel of Oregon, Charles Johnson of Erie, and Richard Johnson and his wife Jeannie of Grandview, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Viola “Vi” Rose; and three brothers, Roy “Bud” Johnson, Jr., Martin “Sonny” Johnson, and Milton “Mutt” Johnson. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Drake, pastor of Faith Community Church, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW. Interment will be in Union Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Faith Community Church. FLOWERS
