Obituary of Charles H. Servey
Charles H. “Chuck” Servey, Jr., 73, of 14812 N. Goodwill Rd. Titusville, died Monday morning June 4, 2012 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Chuck was born on August 2, 1938 at Titusville, PA, a son of the late Charles H. and Adelia Rose Mallory Servey. He was married to Joyce Sager on July 30, 1966 at Diamond. Chuck was a veteran having served in the US Army. He entered the service on Feb. 26, 1958 at Pittsburgh, PA and was honorably discharged on Feb. 17, 1960 at Ft. Dix, NJ. Chuck was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1957. He was retired since 1993 from Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville. He had also been employed at the former Foster Forbes Glass Plant in Oil City; was briefly employed with surveyors at Kinzua Dam; and also worked at the former Titusville Crankshaft and Machine.
Chuch was a member of the Centerville United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Oil Creek Beagle Club; and a member of the Allegheny Sultans of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was an avid hunter, especially of turkey, coyote, fox and coon. He enjoyed teaching his art of turkey calling.
Chuck enjoyed traveling, feeding wildlife, gardening, sharing his stories, attending hot air balloon races, and watching the elk at Benezett.
He is survived by his wife of Titusville; a brother, Budd Servey and his wife Pauline of Erie; a sister, Marjorie Ross and her husband Sam of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Shirley Servey of Titusville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jim and Doreen Rumzie of Townville; special friends, Kim and Pam Sterling, and Sherry Sterling of Titusville, and Amy and Steve Crowther of Guys Mills; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John “Jack” Servey and Richard Servey; a sister-in-law, Ruth Servey; and two nephews, Terrance Servey and Richard Ross.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Friday at 11:00 AM at the Centerville United Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Speakman, pastor, officiating.
Full military rites will be conducted at the church by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW.
Interment will be in Diamond Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Centerville United Methodist Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
