Obituary of John H. Watson
John H. “Jack” Watson, 83, formerly of 46380 Mageetown Rd. Titusville, died Tuesday afternoon June 12, 2012 at Snyder Memorial Health Care Center in Marienville.
Jack was born on September 19, 1928 in Titusville, a son of the late Clifford and Mildred York Watson. He was married to Esther A. Hasbrouck on July 21, 1949 in Titusville. She preceded him in death on Sept. 9, 2011.
Jack was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1946. He had been employed as a machinist in his early years at National Forge Company and later moved on to Cyclop Specialty Steel for the majority of his professional career. In addition to being a machinist, Jack was self-employed as a farmer and a logger.
He was a veteran having served in the US Navy and was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW.
He is survived by two sons, Kirk Watson and his wife Linda of Palm Bay, FL and John Watson and his wife Theresa of Ventura, CA; a daughter-in-law, Tammy Watson of Titusville; 10 grandchildren, Tess and Caleb Watson, Sam, Danielle, Megan and Lindsay Watson, Jeremy Watson and wife Andrea, Autumn Watson and companion John Hilander, Jerrid Watson and companion Susan King, and Justin Watson; 6 great grandchildren, Devin, Ryan, and Alexander Watson, Brandon Andrychowski, Abbigail and Douglas Hilander, and Johnathon Watson; a sister, Mary Alice “Tootie” Slagle of Stoneboro; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sons, Timothy, Ronald, Donald, and Dale Watson; a brother, Robert Watson; a sister, Betty Wolfkiel; and a brother-in-law, Barry Slagle.
No public calling hours will be observed.
A graveside memorial service will be held at the Union Cemetery on Saturday, June 23, 2012 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jerry Gray, pastor of the Bethel United Methodist Church, officiating. Full military rites will be observed by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958, VFW.
