Obituary of Burton J. Seeley
Mr. Burton J. “Junior” Seeley, 81, formerly of Grand Valley and current resident of Oil City died at 11:50 AM on Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at the Erie Veterans Hospital.
Mr. Seeley was born on July 25, 1930 to the late Burton R. and Blanche Wright Seeley. He married Doris R. Gilson on January 17, 1959 in Centerville. Mrs. Seeley preceded him in death on April 14, 1992.
He attended the Enterprise school.
Mr. Seeley served in the U.S. Army from January 2, 1953 to Dec. 21, 1955 when he was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.
He was formerly employed as a pumper for 18 years with Quaker State and later was self-employed working as a logger for several local companies.
Mr. Seeley was a former member of the Enterprise United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, AARP, and the NRA.
He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved to socialize.
Mr. Seeley is survived by a daughter, Dianna Sparks and her husband Chris of Oil City; 5 grandchildren, Tonya Seeley and companion Shaun of Sharon, Frankie McCalmont and fiancé Kirstin of Oil City, Christina Sparks and companion Mike of Utica, Shanna Sparks of Oil City, and Michael Flinchbaugh; 4 great grandchildren, Carlito, Catalina, Daniella and Delea; his special devoted companion of 10 years, Patricia Riley of Taft, CA; and his California kids; the following brothers and sisters, Margaret Wakefield of Titusville, Jack Seeley of Grand Valley, Robert Seeley wife Rita of Pleasantville, Richard Seeley wife Kay of Titusville, Anne Cartney of Titusville, Charlotte Gustafson of Titusville, Alta Webber husband Robert of Meadville, Virginia Hubert husband Martin of Centerville, Donald Seeley wife Peg of South Carolina, Marilyn Seeley of Erie, Shirley Beers husband Steven of Titusville, Gloria Grow husband Harry of Erie, Herbert Seeley of Cooperstown, Alice Jones husband Richard of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Ted A. Seeley; 6 sisters, Daisey Jones, Nina Mitchell, Phyllis Keyes, Thelma Postalewait, Stella Millard, Marian Paden; and a brother, Harold Seeley.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Rev. Trevor Hanna, officiating.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
