Obituary of Doris J. Karwoski
Doris J. Karwoski, 90, of 210 Bank St. Titusville, died Saturday, July 28, 2012 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Mrs. Karwoski was born on Sept. 16, 1921 at Franklin, PA, a daughter of the late Roy T. and Clara Brown Hazlett. She was first married to Chester E. Wilkinson who preceded her in death. She later married Stanley Karwoski in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Doris had attended the Franklin area schools. She had been employed at Polk State Hospital as an office supervisor from 1967 until her retirement in 1980.
She was a member of the Titusville First Presbyterian Church; was a social member of the Titusville VFW; and an honorary member of the Friends of OC&T Railroad. She was an avid reader and longtime holder of her Public Library Card, enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved to write poetry which she published, and enjoyed being with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her two cats, Thunder and Peaches. She enjoyed watching birds and waiving to the OC&T train. She also enjoyed sewing, yard sales, taking family photos, and an avid lover of Johnny Cash. She enjoyed spending her winters at Port Charlotte, FLA which she did for 25 years.
Doris is survived by a son, David Wilkinson of Oil City; five daughters, Donna Letourneau and husband Adam of Virginia Beach, VA, Juanita Boyer of Stoystown, Rebecca Miller and husband William of Northglenn, CO, Mary Jo Kornick and companion Nick of Freeport, and Stephanie “Tootie” Mealy and husband Darrell of Titusville; step-daughters, Joan Spiering of Apollo, Patty Baer and Tina Drane, both of Natrona Heights; a son-in-law, Larry Lawson of Oil City; 19 grandchildren, Jaime, Mandy, Chucky, Frankie, Faith Ann, Chad, Bryan, Sherry, Debbie, Crissy, Rick, Robin, Jake, Eric, Larry, Melissa, Kenny, Theresa and Diana; numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by two sisters, June Langslow of Hampton, VA and Bernice Stitzenger and husband Tom of Lamertine; two brothers, Harold Hazlett of Oil City and Paul Hazlett and wife Yvonne of Lewistown, NY; and special friends, Lynn and Mr. Who, Jane Frazier, Kim and Dalton, and Brenda.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two daughters, infant Margaret Wilkinson and Amy Lawson; a granddaughter, Theresa Thompson; sons-in-law, Ev Thompson and Dan Boyer; and a brother, Donald Hazlett.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11:30 AM with Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner officiating.
Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens in Cranberry, PA.
