Obituary of Clyde G. Wagner

Mr. Clyde G. Wagner, 62, of 711 Ridgeview Rd., Cooperstown (Sunville) died at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, July 07, 2010 at his residence following a courageous battle against cancer. Mr. Wagner was born on July 28, 1947 in Titusville to Jean K. Noel Coryea and the late Wayne E. Wagner. He married Yvonne Butryn on July 11, 1970 at St. Venetian Church in Rouseville. He was a graduate of Townville High School, class of 1965. He also completed a four year apprenticeship as a machinist with Erie Lackawanna Railroad. Mr. Wagner served in the US Army for 6 months active duty and 6 years with the Oil City Reserves. He was previously employed as a machinist for 15 years with Erie Lackawanna Railroad. He was also co-owner of Prichard’s Auto Sales in Dempseytown for 30 years until his retirement this past year. On weekends he would work at Sharon Speedway. Mr. Wagner was a member of the Bradleytown United Methodist Church. He loved spending time with all his family and friends. He was also a racing enthusiast. His favorite drivers were NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt and dirt track racer Lou Blaney. He enjoyed hunting, farming, riding 4-wheelers and going to antique sales. Mr. Wagner is survived by his wife Yvonne Wagner of Sunville; his son, Chad Wagner of Sunville; his mother, Jean Coryea of Fauncetown; a brother, Bill Wagner and wife Deanna of Sunville; a sister, Diane Keener and husband Melvin “Turtle” of Fauncetown; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Proper and husband Gary of Dempseytown, Beverly Sagan and husband Fred of Sunville; nine nieces and nephews, Eric Proper, Aaron Proper, Bill Keener, Tammy Ward, Doug Sagan, Jodi Crowther, Joy Butryn, Lynette Smith, Neal Sagan; 12 great niece and nephews; a close friend Walter Brooks of Decatur, Alabama; and his cat, Booter. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM and on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will take place on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Bradleytown United Methodist Church with Rev. Joseph Martin pastor of the church and Rev. Glen Van Cise pastor of the Chapmanville Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Sunville Cemetery.
