Obituary of Jack Carpenter

Jack Carpenter, 77, of 115 Scouten Lane Spartansburg, died Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at his residence. Jack was born on April 16, 1935 at Mt. Clare, WV, a son of the late Rupert and Phoebia Evelyn Carpenter. Jack was a veteran having served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Oct. 30, 1953 at Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on Oct. 29, 1956 at Camp Pendleton, CA with the rank of corporal. He was a steelworker having retired from Vulcan Crucible in W. Aliquippa, PA. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, reading, and spending time with his family. Jack is survived by his companion, Jean Halsted of Spartansburg; three sons, Jack D. Carpenter and wife Tina of Monaca, Robert A. Carpenter and wife Marcy of Georgetown, and Timothy P. Carpenter and wife Maria of Hopewell; 6 grandchildren; a great grandson; a brother, Rupert Carpenter and wife Fonda of Fanport; three sisters, Ethel Smega of E. Palastine, OH, Nancy Gallo of Mercer, and Louise Anderson and husband Robert of N. Ridgeville, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jane Anderson. Per his request, Jack will be cremated and his cremains scattered.
