Obituary of Donald A. Harrison

Mr. Donald A. Harrison, 87, of 11633 Spring Creek Rd., Titusville died at 2:30 AM on Friday, August 10, 2012 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. Mr. Harris on was born on October 29, 1924 in Titusville to the late Cecil and Maria Edwards Harrison. He married Elmira “Bette” George on June 3, 1947 in Titusville. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1942. Mr. Harrison was a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II. He was formerly employed as a lab tech for 36 years at Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp from 1950 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church but currently attending White Oak United Methodist Church. He also belonged to the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and BPO Elks # 264. Mr. Harrison enjoyed hunting, working with his hands fixing anything that was broken around the house, and maintaining his beautiful yard. In his younger days when he and his wife were not at home they loved to go dancing and traveling. He is survived by his wife Bette Harrison of Titusville; a daughter, Patricia Salvatore and her husband Thomas of Sheffield; four granddaughters, Elonda Byers and husband Colt of Ludowici, GA, Kimberly Salvatore of Titusville, Amanda Salvatore and companion Levi Smith of Spartansburg, Annemarie McMillen of Tawas City, MI; three great grandchildren, Sierra Paige Salvatore-Keyes, Idessa Lynn Keyes, Allan Thomas Byers; a sister, Maxine Behen of Titusville; his grand puppy Tucker, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil Harrison, Jr. and Kenneth Harrison who died in infancy; and three sisters, Dorothy Murray, Marjorie Ludwick, Genevieve Cardullo. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home today (Monday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Gray, pastor of the White Oak United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
