Obituary of Warren W. Sparks

Warren W. Sparks, 87, of 630 Dunham Rd. Pleasantville, died Thursday afternoon August 16, 2012 at the Meadville Rehab and Nursing Center. Mr. Sparks was born on May 28, 1925 at Pithole, PA, a son of the late Elmer and Hattie Fox Sparks. He was married to Helen Benedict on Feb. 23, 1957 at Pleasantville. She preceded him in death on March 14, 2005. Mr. Sparks had attended the Pithole school. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. Mr. Sparks had worked as a pumper for Quaker State for 21 years until his retirement in 1988. He also drove school bus for the Pleasantville school district. He had attended the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed the outdoors, wildlife and hunting. He was knowledgeable of many botanical plants and herbs. He is survived by two sons, Carl E. Sparks of Titusville and Paul Sparks of Pleasantville; two daughters, Linda Sparks of Meadville and Julie Kolacz and husband Stephen of Meadville; three grandchildren, John Kolacz of Meadville, Stephanie Donovan and husband Nate of Titusville, and Laura Sparks of Candler, NC; a great granddaughter, Shianne Donovan; two sisters, Cory Sparks of North Carolina and Jane Behren of South Carolina; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney W. Sparks on Dec. 4, 2001; five brothers, William, George, John, Emmet, and Russell Sparks; and three sisters, Phoebe Chambers, Ollie Sporer, and Ruth Zehner. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM. A graveside service with full military rites will be conducted on Monday at 11:00 AM at Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville with Rev. John Seth, pastor of the Galloway United Methodist Church, officiating. FLOWERS
