Obituary of Leigh I. Rainey

Leigh I. Rainey, Jr., 37, of Arlington, TX, also referred to as Spike or Doc by his family and friends died Tuesday, November 6, 2012, following an extended illness. He had resided in Pleasantville before moving to Arlington four years ago. Leigh was born on August 21, 1975 in Titusville to Leigh I. Sr. and Marie J. Moore Rainey. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1994 and earned a degree in Criminal Justice from Edinboro University. Leigh was formerly employed as a corrections officer for Venango County, Clarion County and SCI Forest County. He served several years in the US Army in active duty and with the reserves. He was last employed in Arlington at Best Buy. Leigh was an avid hunter while living in Pennsylvania. He enjoyed spending time with his beloved German Shepard, Maggie Mae. He is survived by his parents of Pleasantville; a sister, Julie Brown and her fiancé Thomas Lane of Pleasantville; three nephews, Ricky, Nate, and Brody Brown of Cherrytree; close friends, Rick and Rebecca McCain of Arlington, TX; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Leigh was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carrell I. Sr. and Fronie I. White Rainey; maternal grandparents, Dorcie and Virginia Burr Moore; and uncles, Carrell I Rainey Jr., Dorcie “Dan” Moore, and Leal “Butch” Jones. A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends on Friday, November 16th at 11:00am at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville with Rev. Timothy Maybray, pastor of the Free Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 320 Bilmar Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15205 or to the Shine Taylor Scholarship Fund, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, 206 St. John St., Titusville, PA 16354.
