Obituary of Agnes E. Kerr
Mrs. Agnes E. Kerr, 95, formerly of Emerson Place in Titusville died at 5:50 AM on Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Homestead Hearth Personal Care Home in Centerville.
Mrs. Kerr was born on May 5, 1914 at Titusville to the late William C. and Elsie E. Geyer Jones. She married Hubert G. Kerr on July 11, 1936 at Titusville. Mr. Kerr died on April 15, 1986.
She was a 1932 graduate of Colestock High School, Titusville and attended Edinboro College, Edinboro, PA.
Except for a few years in Meyersdale, PA, she lived most of her life in Titusville and Hydetown. She also spent time living with her daughter in Virginia and with her grandson in Pittsburgh before returning to Titusville.
Mrs. Kerr was formerly employed as a receptionist for Dr. Francis Brady in Titusville.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Women’s Group of the Church. Previously, while belonging to the CMA Church in Titusville, she was a Sunday school teacher and Youth leader.
Mrs. Kerr was a member of the Titusville Area School Board at the time of the jointure with Hydetown and Pleasantville areas, serving on the Personnel and Cafeteria Committees. She was a former member of Acacia Chapter #30 of the Order of Eastern Star, Titusville Hospital Auxiliary, and the Titusville Women’s Club. She was a former President of the Friendly Club of the Billie Brown Building.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to church, reading, traveling and politics.
Mrs. Kerr is survived by three daughters, Karen (Stanley) Kell of Warren, PA, Judy Bailey of Centerville, and Sally (Dennis) Kelly of Clifton, VA and Little Cooley, PA; 7 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; one sister, Patricia (Norman) Wilson of Centerville; one brother, Ralph “Skeeter” Jones of Centerville; one sister-in-law, Margaret P. Jones of Eugene, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, William H. Jones and a niece, Jan Wilson Rice.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, PA on Sunday from 7 to 9 pm and attend the funeral service from the First Presbyterian Church on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Barry E. Cressman, Pastor of the Church, Mrs. Jacqueline T. Wagner, Assistant to the Pastor and a niece Pastor Terri Warner, officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Titusville
