Obituary of Harlan Hicks

Mr. Harlan “Wayne” Hicks, 73, of 319 W. Elm St., Titusville was swept away on wings of angels to be placed in the arms of Jesus at 6:20 AM on Friday, December 07, 2012. He was a patient at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie. Mr. Hicks was born on May 26, 1939 in Buell’s Corners to the late Lawrence and Florence Spencer Hicks. He attended Colestock High School. Mr. Hicks was formerly employed as a maintenance mechanic at Seaboard Farms in Chattanooga, TN for 17 years and was most recently employed as a manager for 4 years with Buyer’s Fair at the time of his retirement. Mr. Hicks was an ordained minister and for 16 years he pastored at various churches when needed and also pastored at East Branch Church of God. He was self- taught and loved to play the guitar, violin, fiddle, and harmonica. He enjoyed listening to Country and Western music, Christian music, and making his family and friends laugh. He especially loved being around his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow up. Mr. Hicks is survived by his wife Becky Ledbetter Hicks of Titusville, whom he married on February 21, 1996 in Chattanooga, TN; four children, Linda Gass and husband Jerry of Columbus, GA, John Hicks of Fayetteville, NC, Dianna Messina and husband Edward of Titusville, Ronald Hicks of Butler; 14 grandchildren, Jimmy Ralston, Jeremiah Gass, Travis Hicks, Miranda Yoder, Tiffany Hicks, Timothy Hicks, Krystal Dittman, Carrie Succheralli, Jonathan Hicks, Joseph Hicks, Katelyn Hicks, Dylan Hicks, Jason Hicks, Jenna Hicks; 3 step-children, Ryan Brown of Virginia Beach, VA, Katie Brown of Columbus, OH, Zachary Brown of Titusville; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Hicks of Spartansburg; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis Hicks and Charles Hicks; a brother, Raymond Hicks; and three sisters, Dorothy McCrillis, Gladys Wagner, and Pauline McCalmont. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 to 2:00 PM with the service to follow conducted by his niece Darlene Stevens and Ward Beers, Associate Pastor of the Breedtown Baptist Church, officiating.
