Obituary of Eva M. Doutt
Mrs. Eva Marjorie Leonard Doutt, a resident of 20732 Teepleville Flats Road, Cambridge Springs went home for Christmas on December 20, 2012 at the age of 94. Born March 17, 1918 in Rockdale Township, Cambridge Springs, Eva was the daughter of Sidney Herbert Leonard and Lavina Georgia Cole Leonard. She attended Rockdale Consolidated High School for 11 years and graduated from Spartansburg Homemakers Academy in 1937. Eva married Charles Howard Doutt, who preceded her in death in 1990. Also preceding her in death were her two sons, Neil Howard Doutt and Earl Keith “Butch” Doutt ; her two brothers, Paul Ivan Leonard and Thad Ross Leonard; and her sister, Margaret Clara Jewell; and great-great granddaughters Mackenzie and Madison McGarvie.
Mrs. Doutt is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Fenstermaker Doutt of Titusville; her sister, Mrs. Helen Diane Kelly of Erie; three granddaughters, Dr. Linda Culbertson of Cochranton and her husband, Dean; Mrs. Jeannette Irwin of Union City and her husband, Jim; and Ms. Priscilla Doutt of Union City; her great-grandchildren Zachary and Brooke Culbertson, Jenny (Trevis) McGarvie, Jimmy (Erin) Irwin, and Jessica (Jeremy) Irwin, and Alicia and Robbie Hollis. Her great-great grandchildren Alexis, Rylie, Aubrey, Marcus, Molly, and Wade. She also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Leonard, and several nieces and nephews in her family and through her daughter-in-law’s family.
Eva spent most of her life as a homemaker and had many hobbies including: studying genealogy, knitting, sewing, baking and gardening (especially raising her own gladiolas). She was a former Parent Teacher Association President in Cambridge Springs and a member of the Crawford County Council, the Rockdale Grange, and President of the Rockdale Garden Club. Eva enjoyed teaching her granddaughters many things and her words of wisdom will live on forever in their memories.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Friday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Saturday at 10:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Alsdorf of Mt. Pleasant Chapel, officiating.
Interment will be in Miller Station Cemetery in Cambridge Springs.
The family asks that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Neil and Butch Doutt.
