Obituary of Dorothy B. Ricke
Mrs. Dorothy B. Ricke, 87, of 227 Water St. (Billie Brown Bldg.), formerly of 415 Dairy St. Titusville, died Saturday morning February 9, 2013 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Mrs. Ricke was born on January 1, 1926 at Oakfield, Wisc., a daughter of the late William and Frieda Kutz Wachendorf. She was married to Ovid C. “Butch” Ricke on Sept. 15, 1945 in Titusville. He preceded her in death on April 29, 2008.
Mrs. Ricke was a graduate of Winnebago Lutheran Acadamy in Fond du Lac, Wisc., class of 1943. She was also a graduate of Milwaukee State Teachers’ College.
She was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Titusville where she was active in the Altar Guild. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church Women; a member of the former Acacia Chapter No. 30, Order of the Eastern Star; and a member of the Rainbow Girls.
She enjoyed sewing, reading, watching old movies and playing the piano.
Mrs. Ricke is survived by the following children; Joanne Carlson and husband Butch of Ttitusville, Richard Ricke and companion Pam Antill of Titusville, Ray Ricke of Canadohta Lake, and Yvonne Winger and husband Mark of Cambridge Springs; 5 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Becker of Oakfield, Wisc.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Wachendorf and a sister, Mildred Bly.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Samuel Mabugu, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Emanuel Lutheran Church 218 W. Elm St. Titusville, PA 16354.
