Obituary of Clayton T. Vanderhoof
Mr. Clayton T. “Tom” Vanderhoof, Jr., 61, of 15071 Springcreek Rd., Titusville died at 1:55 AM on Monday, February 11, 2013 at his residence following a brief illness.
Mr. Vanderhoof was born on May 2, 1951 in Titusville to the late Clayton T. Vanderhoof, Sr. and Iona Anthony Vanderhoof. He married Norma Kellogg on October 16, 1976 in Pleasantville.
Tom attended Titusville High School. He served in the US Marine Corp. from Dec. 9, 1968 until his honorable discharge on May 20, 1970 with the rank of Corporal.
He was employed as a general foremen for the Labors Local Union 517 out of Orlando, FL until his retirement.
Tom was a member of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion in Titusville.
He was an avid hunter, and enjoyed watching football and Nascar. He was known as Poppa by his grandkids, loved by his family and was a friend to everyone he met.
Tom is survived by his wife Norma Vanderhoof of Titusville; three children, Wayne A. Scott and wife Karen of Spartansburg, Clayton “Tom” Vanderhoof III and wife Melissa of Erie, Donald Lee Vanderhoof and companion Tammy Nunemaker of Pleasantville; six grandchildren, Heather Capela of Spartansburg, Haleigh Scott of Hydetown, Justin Wentz of Erie, Reid Scott of Spartansburg, Clayton Vanderhoof IV of Erie, Brooke Vanderhoof of Erie; three close nieces, Cheryl Aul, Sandy Hinkle, Diane Rodgers; a close nephew, Herb Prody; and several additional nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Walter A. Scott; two brothers, Donald Saxton, Carl Saxton; and a sister, Helen Prody.
No calling hours will be observed.
A private interment will be held in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a celebration of Tom’s life at the Titusville American Legion on Saturday at 3:30pm.
