Obituary of Ronald E. Kope
Ronald E. Kope, 76, of 184 New Street Pleasantville, died Friday morning March 1, 2013 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Mr. Kope was born on Dec. 1, 1936 at Oil City, PA, a son of the late Paul and Georgia Archer Kope.
He was first married to Arlene White on Feb. 6, 1960. He was later joined with Wanda Cornell through a commitment ceremony in January of 2012.
Mr. Kope had attended the Rouseville school. He had been employed as a service technician with National Fuel from 1963 until his retirement in 2001.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Air Force. He entered the service on Feb. 24, 1954 at Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on Oct. 8, 1957 at Truax Field, Madison, Wisc. with the rank of Airman 1st class.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and of the Pioneer Steam and Gas Engine Society. He enjoyed rebuilding cars, antique radios, and old guns and pistols. He also enjoyed photography.
Mr. Kope is survived by his wife of Pleasantville; the following children, Terry Kope and wife Chris of Wilkes-Barre, Tom Kope of Townville, Sandy Hancock and husband Tom of Pleasantville, and Jeff Kope of Pleasantville; 10 grandchildren; a brother, David Kope of Bradenton, FLA; and two sisters, Sandy Walters and husband Bud, and Paula Willmeth, all of Oil City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Mary Jane May, Shirley Madonia, and Peggy Roup.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Tuesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Interment will be in Rynd Farm Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society.
