Obituary of Estella L. Hoovler
Mrs. Estella L. Hoovler, 94, formerly of Pleasantville, passed away peacefully Wednesday morning March 13, 2013 at Southwoods Assisted Living Community in Titusville surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Hoovler was born on January 15, 1919 at Pineville, PA, a daughter of the late Harry Luke and May Wright Luke. She was married to Marion W. Hoovler on Oct. 16, 1937 at Ripley, NY. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1996.
She was a graduate of the Pleasantville High School, class of 1935, and a graduate of Edinboro University where she earned her teaching certificate in 1937. She later finished her education and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh.
She was a teacher with the Titusville Area School District having taught elementary school at the Pleasantville, Grand Valley and Cherrytree schools.
Mrs. Hoovler was a member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church where she served as a deacon. She was a member of Pennsylvania Retired Teachers Association and of Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s organization. She was a former member of the Pleasantville Lioness Club.
Mrs. Hoovler and her husband wintered in Florida for many years. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, and was an accomplished bridge player.
Mrs. Hoovler is survived by two daughters, Saundra McDonough and husband Michael of Brecksville, OH and Karen Hoovler of Cleveland, OH; five grandchildren, Patrice Yarham, Michele Weaver and husband Tim, Todd Thompson and wife Jennifer, and Jesse and Luke Melat; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Blaine Luke and two sisters, Lucille Bailey and Florence Beers.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Friday from 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Saturday at 2:00 PM at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jamie Fowler officiating.
Interment will be in Neilltown Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the Titusville High School Alumni Fund or to the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church.
