Obituary of Eleanor R. Muir Socha

Mrs. Penny Muir Socha, 73, formerly of 630 W. Spruce St. Titusville, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Titusville. Penny was born on July 19, 1939 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Phillip and Mary Radack Turpin. She was married to Orra W. “Bill” Muir, Jr. on May 10, 1958. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1995. She later married Vincent Socha on July 20, 1999 at St. Titus Church in Titusville. Penny was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1957 and was also a graduate of Bryant and Stratton Business College in Jamestown, NY. She had been employed as an administrative assistant for many years for Dr. Scott Kennedy in Titusville. Penny was a member of St. Titus Church and of the Altar Rosary Society. She enjoyed playing cards, reading and taking pictures. She also enjoyed motorcycle trips in her earlier years with her husband Bill. Penny is survived by her husband Vince Socha of Titusville; a daughter, Kimberly Muir Ciccarelli of Titusville; two sons, Mark W. Muir and wife Allison of Ramseur, NC and Michael J. Muir and wife Chris of Vassar, Michigan; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; step-daughters, Mary Noel and husband Bill of Woodbridge, VA and Karen Socha of Canadohta Lake; a special cousin, Connie Phillips of Orman Beach, FLA; sisters-in-law, Brenda Tarr and husband Tom, and Sue Lowros, all of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Phillip “Toby” Turpin and James Turpin. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Asera Care Hospice or to the charity of one’s choice. FLOWERS
