Obituary of Helen H. Proper

Mrs. Helen H. Proper, 91, formerly of Route 27 Titusville and also a former resident at the Billie Brown Building in Titusville, died Monday afternoon September 21, 2009 at Country Acres Personal Care Home in Titusville. Mrs. Proper was born on April 2, 1918 in Titusville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Ina Nason Hummer. She was married to Howard C. Proper on July 1, 1939 at Bethel. He preceded her in death on Nov. 7, 1998. Mrs. Proper was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1936. She was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church since 1939. Mrs. Proper is survived by three children, Leon Proper and his wife Barbara of Guys Mills, Elaine Bauder and her husband Glenn of Franklin, and Wendell Proper and his wife Sherry of Guys Mills; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; a brother, Basil Hummer and his wife Margie of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Margaret Bimber of Titusville; several nieces and one nephew. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ione Hummer and Frances Hummer. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service there on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Glen Van Cise, pastor of the Chapmanville Community Church, officiating. Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery.
