Obituary of John W. Corey

John W. “Jack” Corey, 81, of 13764 Springcreek Rd. Titusville, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence. John was born on April 6, 1929 at Titusville, PA, a son of the late Edwin Corey and Mae Hutchinson Swanson. He was married to Grace Anthony on March 12, 1956 at Oakland, MD. John was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville, class of 1947. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served in the US Army from 1948 until his honorable discharge on June 16, 1952. He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post No. 5958 VFW; and a former member of the Titusville PNA Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and his pet dog “Dusty”. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler and Pirate fan. John in survived by his wife of Titusville; three children, James Corey and his wife Jane, William Corey and his wife Vickie, and Brenda Armstrong and her husband Paul, all of Titusville; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; three half brothers, Donald Corey and his wife Paula, Thomas Corey and his wife Dorothy, and William Corey and his wife Lori, all of Warren, PA; a half sister, Deborah Corey of Warren, PA; a brother-in-law, Clayton “Tuffy” Marvin of Hydetown; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Ann Corey; a brother, Robert Corey; and a sister, Beverly Marvin. No public calling hours will be observed. Family and friends are invited to gather at the family residence at 13764 Springcreek Rd. Titusville on Sunday, August 29th at 2:00 PM for a celebration of John’s life. Private interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery with full military rites. The family asks that memorials be made to the Hospice of Crawford County 310 N. Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354 or to the John Kanzius Cancer Research Foundation 915 State St. Erie, PA 16501.
