Obituary of Elizabeth W. Haas

Mrs. Elizabeth W. “Betty” Haas, 89, of 514 E. Spruce St. Titusville, passed away Sunday, May 5, 2013 at Marquette Hospice House in Meadville where she had been a resident for the past several weeks. Betty was born on August 25, 1923 at Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Alexander Wallace. Betty was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1941. She had been employed as secretary to Bruce Leithead in the personnel office at the former Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville. She was last employed as secretary to the principal at the Titusville Senior High School from where she retired in 1989. Betty was an avid reader, wonderful cook and baker, and enjoyed preparing Sunday dinners and holiday meals. Betty is survived by two children, Donald R. Haas of Marshburg and Debra Spence and husband Wayde of Meadville; a grandson, Adam McKee of Lajolla, CA; and a sister, Patricia A. Wallace of Winter Haven, FL. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David B. Haas. No public visitation will be held. Friends may attend a memorial service on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family asks that memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County 464 Pine St. Meadville, PA 16335. FLOWERS
