Obituary of Evan W. Hummer

Mr. Evan W. Hummer, 74, of 11038 Leboeuf Trail Rd., Centerville died at 3:50 PM on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie. Mr. Hummer was born on October 20, 1938 in Titusville to the late Ralph and Leola Kerr Hummer. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1956. Mr. Hummer was formerly employed as a computer programmer in the 50’s at Struthers Wells Corporation. In 1960 Evan and his brother became co-owners of the family dairy farm. He retired from the farm in 1986 and went to work for the YMCA taking care of the maintenance until the present time. He was a former past President for 10 years on the board of directors for Rural Electric from 1967 to 2000, a former member and past president of Titusville Rotary, and served for 15 years on the Titusville School Board. Evan enjoyed golfing and taking care of his lawn. He is survived by his wife: Lois Dailey Hummer of Centerville, whom he married on June 8, 1990, in Titusville; three children, James Hummer and wife Cheryl of Evansville, IN, Kathryn Zimmerman and husband Keith of Titusville, Beth Russell and husband Jeff of Mars; two step-sons, Scott Walters and wife Laura of Meadville, Ron Walters and wife Annette of Townville; nine grandchildren, Kyle Hummer and wife Heather of Raleigh, NC, Amanda Hummer of Hubbard, OH, Matthew Hummer of Evansville, IN, Rachel Russell and Megan Russell both of Mars, Alecia Palmer and husband Jay of Townville, Paige Bush and husband David of Titusville, Carter Walters of Townville; seven great grandchildren, Jade Bush, Gavin Bush, Shaye Bush, Jason Walters, Tierney Palmer, Jaythan Palmer, R.J. Walters; a brother, David Hummer of Geneva, NY; his former wife, Frances Driscoll Hummer of Titusville; best bud Dick Nichols; a special friend, Jessi Propheter; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Hummer was preceded in death by a grandson, Ray Scott Walters, Jr.; and a brother, Russell Hummer. All services are being conducted privately by the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the YMCA 201 W. Spring St., Titusville or to the Bethel United Methodist Church 15068 State Hwy 89, Titusville, PA 16354.
