Jean attended Pleasantville schools and in 1935, at the age of 14, she met Tom Beason at the “new road” opening from Pleasantville to Enterprise. The couple dated and married in 1941 and bought their first house in Pleasantville and started their family. They moved to Bloss Street in Titusville in 1954. In their early married life, Jean worked in the retail business at Murphy’s and, later, at Singers Sewing Machine and Dunn’s Stationery Supply in Titusville. Jean taught Sunday School and was an active member of The Titusville Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed swimming and was talented at sewing, knitting and gardening.
In 1962 she and Tom bought The G & H Shop in Titusville, a women’s clothing store, which Jean successfully ran for 22 years. During that time, she enjoyed her many friendships with fellow merchants and was an active member of The Titusville Chamber of Commerce.
Jean and Tom greatly enjoyed their family and their many friends, and they traveled around the United States on motorcycle and RV and on cruises during retirement and spent many happy years wintering in McAllen, Texas. During that time, Jean learned to oil paint and created treasured paintings for her family.
