Obituary of Donald L. Caldwell
Donald L. Caldwell, 72, of 11061 Willey Rd. Titusville passed away unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon May 28, 2013 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Donald was born on August 22, 1940 at Forest Co., PA, a son of the late Kahle and Hazel Kahle Caldwell. He was married to Loretta Morris on May 7, 1983 at Hydetown and renewed their vows on February 14, 2009 at St. Titus Church with Fr. D.G. Davis III officiating. They spent 30 beautiful years together.
Donald had been employed as a machinist at GTE Sylvania at Pleasantville, moving to the plant in Warren following the closing of the Pleasantville branch. He worked in Warren at GTE, which became Osram, then retired from there in 2003.
Donald was a life member of the North American Hunting Club and a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was an avid hunter, hunting many places across the country. He enjoyed fishing as well and spending time in the outdoors. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather; enjoyed working, but mostly spending time hunting with the grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Caldwell of Titusville; three children, Scott Caldwell and wife Gerri of Manchester, PA, Michael Caldwell and wife Tina of Titusville, and Dean Caldwell and wife Chris of Pleasantville; step children, Ronald Hamilton and wife Sheri of Titusville, Donald Hamilton and wife Mindy of Titusville, Jennifer Beach and husband Tim of Pleasantville, James Hamilton and wife Wendy of Hydetown; 15 grandchildren, Cody and Tyler Caldwell, Jeremy and Lynsey Caldwell, Micheal, Tyler, and Colt Hartley, Bethany Sandvik, Jason, Levi, Zachry, and Shalyn Hamilton, Dawn Crawford, Lydia and Ann Beach; 7 great grandchildren, Lyndee, Darius, Zaide, and Paisley Crawford, Jacob and Beatrice Rose Sandvik, and Laila Jane Greathouse; a sister, Marilyn “Kaby” Drake and husband Carl “Kirt” of Titusville; a sister-in-law, Margie Caldwell of Titusville; his former wife, Beverly Caldwell of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Nophia “Faye” Caldwell and Harry Caldwell.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville today (Thursday) from 7 to 9 PM and on Friday from noon to 2:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Fr. Walter E. Packard, pastor of the Titusville Catholic Community, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery.
