Obituary of Max C. Barnett
Max C. Barnett, 91, of 41333 Pleasant St. Titusville, died Monday June 3, 2013 at the Titusville Area Hospital.
Mr. Barnett was born on March 23, 1922 in Emmerickville PA, to the late Clarence and Ethel Wiles Barnett. Max attended Brookville schools. He married Virginia Kendall on April 24, 1943 in Dubois. She preceded him in death in 2007.
Max was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Navy. He entered the service on September 6, 1943 in Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on January 14, 1946 in San Diego with the rank of Motor Machinist’s Mate Third Class.
Mr. Barnett worked several jobs before owning and operating Barnett Pest Control in Titusville for a number of years.
Mr. Barnett was a member of the Hydetown Methodist Church, where he served as the president of the board of trustees. He was a member of the Hydetown Boro Council; a life member of the Titusville Lodge No. 754 F. & A.M. and of the Scottish Rite Consistory. He was also a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW.
Max loved baseball having participated in the farm baseball league in both Jefferson and Clarion Counties. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in both baseball and softball. He was a devout Penn State and Pirate fan and also enjoyed watching NCAA Women’s Softball World Series. He was also an avid reader using his Kindle.
Mr. Barnett is survived by his two children, Timothy Barnett and wife Janet of Ashtabula, OH, and Cynthia Kline and husband Duane of Hydetown; seven grandchildren, Max Justin Kline, Kristofer Kline, Matthew Kline, Camille Thai, Jenny Barnett Rohrs, Holly Barnett Reba, and Sam Barnett.
In addition to his parents Max was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Barnett.
At the request of the family, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, friends can make memorial contributions to Benson Memorial Library 213 N. Franklin St. Titusville, PA 16354.
