Obituary of Carol I. Phillips

Carol I. Phillips, 78, of 584 LeBoeuf Trail Rd. Titusville, passed away Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Titusville Area Hospital. Carol was born on April 2, 1935 at Spartansburg, PA, a daughter of the late Jay and Irene Stover Morton. She was married to William R. “Bill” Phillips on July 25, 1953 at Spartansburg. He preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 2010. Carol was a graduate of the Spartansburg High School, class of 1953. She had been employed for a number of years at Joy Manufacturing in Franklin from where she retired. She was a member of the Chapmanville Community Church where she was a choir member and also was involved with the Ladies Missions of the Church. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, golfing, and cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carol is survived by three children, Bradley Phillips and his wife Belinda of Hollywood, MD, Rex Phillips and his wife Cathy of Titusville, and Jodi Mihailoff and husband Nick of Townville; grandchildren, Kane Phillips and wife Kim, Renee Ledebur and husband Dan, Isaac Phillips and wife Andrea, Maegan Kuehner and husband Adam, Rex Phillips II, Tessa Phillips, Zack Mihailoff, Adrianne Burrows and husband Micky, and Sydney Mihailoff; great grandchildren, Brady and Jeremiah Ledebur, Lauren and William Phillps, Micaiah, Frederick, and Duncan Kuehner, Hunter Burrows, and also awaiting the new arrival of great grandchild Burrows. Also surviving are two brothers, Clifford Morton and wife Joan of Bethel Park, and William Morton and wife Connie of Spartansburg; two sisters, Willa “Mike” Ponce of Erie and Linda Watson and husband Frank of Wampum; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Carol was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Kloey Burrows. No public viewing will be observed. The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 5 to 8 PM at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville. Further visitation will be held on Tuesday from 1 to 2 PM at the Chapmanville Community Church at which time the memorial service will be conducted with Rev. Glen Van Cise, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be made to the Chapmanville Community Church 1043 LeBoeuf Trail Rd. Titusville, PA 16354.
