Obituary of William J. Crisman

William J. “Bill” Crisman, 73, of 42971 W. Central Ave., Titusville died Saturday evening July 13, 2013 at the Titusville Area Hospital. He was lovingly known by his buddies as “Maytag.” Bill was born on November 17, 1939, in Titusville to Mae Whitman Crisman and the late John L. Crisman. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Howe on December 8, 1973 at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1957. Bill was a veteran of the US Army having served from 1958 to 1960. During those years he spent significant time in Alaska training. He was formerly employed at the YMCA bowling lanes, Love’s Tree Farm, Sanida Dairy, and spent the last 35 years as V.P. and General Manager at Farley’s Industrial Laundry until his retirement in 2003. Bill’s love for football led him to supervise rec football and serve on the little gridders football board. Through the years he was active in numerous sports: football, senior league basketball, racquetball, slow-pitch softball, and golfed on the Thursday men’s league and Friday night couples league. Bill was a former member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW and BPO Elks #264. He is survived by his wife Betty of Titusville; his mother Mae of Titusville; two sons, William Crisman and his wife Jennifer of Apopka, FL, Patrick McCandless and wife Jill of Palm Harbor, FL; four grandchildren, Samantha, Kylie and Garrett Crisman of Apopka, FL, Evan McCandless of Palm Harbor, FL; three brothers, Robert Crisman of Meadville, Richard Crisman and wife Karen of Titusville, Jim Crisman and wife Bonnie of Pleasantville; a sister, Beverly Taylor and husband Bob of Thousand Palms, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church on Saturday with a memorial service to follow conducted by Pastor Jamie Fowler. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Benson Memorial Library 213 N.
