Obituary of Bonnie Jean Rice

Bonnie Jean Rice, 57, a resident of Oakwood Heights in Oil City, PA, passed away there in the early morning hours of Tuesday, August 13, 2013. Bonnie was born in Erie, PA on February 29, 1956 to the late Jean Rice Bechard. She was raised by her loving grandparents, the late Clifford & Velma Rice, in Wallaceville. She graduated from Townville High School in 1974. Bonnie worked as a laundry aide at Mead Nursing Home in Meadville and as a housekeeper at the Franklin Hotel. She enjoyed working as a machinist for several years at Saegertown Manufacturing until declining health issues forced early retirement. Bonnie was a member of the Wallaceville United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Chapmanville and Dempseytown Volunteer Fire Departments and Fire Police. She enjoyed playing bingo, bowling, watching the “Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune”. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. She loved her pet birds and cats, and spending time with her family. Bonnie is survived by a half-brother, Bob “BJ” Bechard, and five half-sisters, Bambi Vaillancourt & husband David, Heidi Stewart, Vicki Ungar & husband Gregory, Kelly Lloyd & husband Rich, Ronny Skrumeda & husband Kevin, all of Sudbury, Ontario; and a long-time friend, Jim Jolly of Wallaceville. Also, an aunt Janis Sutton & husband Willard of Centerville, and two uncles, Paul Rice & wife Lois of Franklin and Earl “Shorty” Rice of Conneautville, and nieces, nephews, and several cousins. In addition to her grandparents and mother, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Evelyn Rice, and two uncles, Wallace “Barney” Rice and Maurice “Doc” Rice; and an infant half-sister, Tammy Bechard Friends may attend a memorial service for Bonnie at the Wallaceville United Methodist Church on September 7, 2013 at 11:00 AM officiated by Pastor Glen VanCise of the Chapmanville Community Church. The family asks that memorial contributions please be made to Dempseytown Volunteer Fire Department or The Wallaceville United Methodist Church.
