Obituary of Roger A. Sterling
Mr. Roger A. “Rod” Sterling, 76, of 41349 Murray St., Hydetown died at 10:17 PM on Tuesday, September 29, 2009, at his residence.
Mr. Sterling was born on Dec. 31, 1932 in Titusville to the late Arthur L. and Ida B. Elliot Sterling. He married Dorothy “Dot” Jackson on Sept. 20, 1958 at the First Presbyterian Church.
He was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1953. He also served in the US Army from May 20, 1954 until his honorable discharge on April 25, 1956.
Mr. Sterling was formerly employed by Matteson Equipment, where he sold John Deere Tractors. He also owned and operated Twin Oaks Lawn and Garden for over 23 years.
He enjoyed fixing small engines, going to auctions, and hunting.
Mr. Sterling is survived by his wife Dorothy “Dot” Sterling of Hydetown; three children, Gregory Sterling and wife Lynn of Marietta, GA, Shari Dequeure and husband Franck of Houston, TX, Kristen Tascarella and husband Kenna of E. Brady; four grandchildren, Arielle and Alexiene Duqueure of Houston, TX, Kaitlyn and Christopher Sterling of Marietta, GA; two brothers, Gerald Sterling and companion Barnie Nichols, Kenneth Sterling and wife Donna both of Hydetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Sweetland.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow conducted by Pastor Gary Kinnear of the Breedtown Baptist Church.
