Obituary of Robert L. Shambaugh

Robert L. Shambaugh, Jr., 62, of 10503 Campbell Rd. Titusville, died Friday afternoon August 30, 2013 at UPMC Montefiore in Pittsburgh. Bob was born on August 16, 1951 in Titusville, a son of the late Robert and Pearl Boughner Shambaugh. He was married to Cathy Berkey on May 19, 1979 at Pleasantville. Bob was a graduate of the Titusville High School, class of 1969. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict having served in the US Marine Corps. Bob had been employed most of his life at various local restaurants as a cook. He had also been employed previously as a machinist at Grand Valley Manufacturing. He was a member of the Titusville Free Methodist Church where he was long time kitchen and event manager for summer camp. He was a life member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. He enjoyed his trips to local auctions and fishing with his close friend Bill. He also enjoyed hunting, reading Louis L’Amour novels, watching reruns of MASH on TV, and collecting coins. Bob is survived by his wife of Titusville; three sons, Joe Shambaugh and wife Amy of Kennerdell, Dave Shambaugh and companion Gretchen of Titusville, and Dan Shambaugh and wife Emily of McKean; 6 grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah, and Simon Shambaugh, Evan Donovan, and Elijah and Nathaniel Shambaugh; two sisters, Sharon May and husband Robert of Cicero, NY, and Linette Bloomfield and husband Colin of Suffolk, England; his “girlfriend” Midge Bickel of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews all who miss him greatly. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM. Further visitation will be held on Thursday at the Titusville Free Methodist Church from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 AM at the church with Rev. Timothy Maybray, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Lupher Chapel Cemetery, Canal Twp., Venango Co. with full military honors.
