Obituary of Richard Carter
Mr. Richard Carter, 77, of 863 Fairview Rd., Titusville died at 2:18 PM on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Mr. Carter was born on July 6, 1936 in Oil City to the late Ernest F. and Agnes Young Carter. He married Judy Greene on October 29, 1987 in Rouseville.
He was a graduate of Oil City High School, class of 1954, and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Carter was a self-employed truck driver for 34 years until his retirement in 2004.
He was a member of the Clarion Lodge No. 277 F.&A.M., Coudersport Consistroy, Zem-Zem Shrine, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion, a 50 year member of the Titusville Moose Club, Titusville B.P.O. Elks Lodge 264, and a lifetime member of the Pulaski Club.
Mr. Carter enjoyed riding his motorcycle.
He is survived by his wife Judy Carter of Titusville; a son, Mike Carter and wife Amy of Fayetteville, NC; three daughters, Pamela Carter of Titusville, Debbie Barnes and husband Brett of Wakeforest, NC, Laurie Tomko and companion Jim Fausnaught of Titusville; 4 grandchildren, Lacey Snyder, Casey Carter, Nicholas Carter, Taylor Barnes; 3 sisters, Pat Foltz and husband Don of Lincolnville, Judy Hunt of Union City, Carol Barr and husband Charles of Rouseville; and several nieces and nephews. Also, survived by a “son” and special friend, Rick Neely of Titusville and his dog, Bodie Joe.
Mr. Carter was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Carter.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM with Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Interment will be in Loomis Cemetery, Lincolnville.
