Obituary of Janet Keir Turk
Mrs. Janet Keir Turk formerly of Mystic Park Rd., Hydetown and a resident of Southwoods Assisted Living in Titusville, died Sunday September 22, 2013 at UPMC Northwest in Seneca.
Janet was born on December 30, 1931 in Jamestown, NY to the late Frank and Nannie Sandbuerg Keir. She married Raymond Turk on August 9, 1952. He preceded her in death on February 18, 1990.
She was a graduate of Jamestown High School.
Mrs. Turk was a homemaker. She was the Republican Committee Woman representative in Hydetown for many years. She was a member of the Marine Women’s Auxiliary and was active with the Hydetown Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, walking and doing crossword puzzles. Janet was also a big fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates.
She was a member of the Titusville Emmanuel Lutheran Church. She attended the Hydetown Methodist Church and the Titusville Presbyterian Bible Study.
Mrs. Turk is survived by her two sons, Jeffery Turk and wife Nancy of Hermitage, Bruce Turk and wife Amy of Knox; four grandchildren, Allison Ellington and husband Ray of Fisherville, VA, Carly Turk of Washington D.C, Matthew Turk of Hermitage, Caitlin Turk of Lawrenceville; two step- grandchildren, Brian Long of Clarion, Elizabeth Kauffman of Pittsburgh; one great-grandchild, Landon Ellington of Fisherville, VA; and one sister, Eleanor Miller of Pittsburgh.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 5 to 8 PM and attend the service at the funeral home on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Gordon Turk, officiating.
Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Marine Corp. Scholarship Fund or the Hydetown Vol. Fire Dept.
