Obituary of Carol M. Hoovler

Carol M. Hoovler, 81, of 17274 Enterprise Road, died early Wednesday morning, October 9, 2013, at St. Vincent’s Health Center in Erie. Carol was born on October 6, 1932 in Tidioute to the late Floyd and Olive Bingman Hoovler. Carol was formerly married to Richard A. Sterling, who preceded her in death. She graduated from Pleasantville High School and then went on to Sacramento Jr. College in Sacramento, CA for insurance. Carol also attended University of Pittsburgh. She worked for Return Oil Corp./Eagle Line Corp. in Bradensburg as a secretary. Carol then worked for Windy Hill Farms as a secretary and for Alberta Collage at the Collage Inn. She retired in 1995 as a secretary from Sanford Equipment. Carol was a member of the Pleasantville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, her pet dogs, embroidery, the outdoors, and an avid mystery reader. She also was a volunteer for many causes. Carol is survived by two daughters, Susan Luchka and husband Thomas of York, PA, Linda Spinek of Erie; a son, Raymond Sterling of Pleasantville; a sister, Thelma White of Anderson, SC; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, William G. Sterling; two sisters, Evaline Fay Prather and Joyce Questell; and a brother Marion Hoovler and his wife Estella Hoovler. No public visitation will be observed, and a memorial service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 1:00 PM at the Pleasantville United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Russell officiating. Interment will be at Neilltown Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Humane Society, or a charity of one’s choice.
