Obituary of Joseph Mac Lorenz
Joseph Mac Lorenz, 94, of 415 W. Walnut St. Titusville, passed away Friday evening December 20, 2013 at the Corry Manor following a brief illness.
Mac was born on November 12, 1919 in Titusville, a son of the late Emmett Carl and Mary Ann McClintock Lorenz. He was married to Lillian Fay Kysor Kunick on August 30, 1969 at the Centerville Baptist Church.
Mac was a graduate of Colestock High School, class of 1936. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army.
He was self-employed in the dairy farming business for a number of years. He had also been employed at the former GTE Sylvania and Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in the security departments. He was employed by Ted Hutchinson in the timber business for a brief time, and had also been involved with Greenthumb projects and park services.
Mac had attended the Centerville Baptist Church. He was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW; a member of the Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA); a member of the Holstein Association; was a long-time volunteer at the Senior Center in Titusville; enjoyed playing guitar, roller skating, listening to country music, polka dancing, and playing the harmonica. He was also known for selling Raleigh products for many years.
Mac is survived by his wife of Titusville; a daughter, April Harger of Titusville; two grandchildren, Levi and Lauren Harger; step-children, Kate Preston and husband Jack of Centerville, Terry Kunick and wife Marilyn of Wales Center, NY, John Kunick of Grove City, Jean Roberts and husband Jeff of Titusville, and Calvin Kunick and wife Nancy of Centerville; numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; a brother, Harley Lorenz of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Evelyn McKee of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Sarah Belle Bly, Jeanne Cosper, and Nellie Hawkins.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM and attend the funeral service on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the Centerville Baptist Church with Pastor David Leninsky and Pastor Gary Kinnear, officiating. Military honors will be conducted by officers and members of the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
