Obituary of Virginia M. O’Neill

Virginia M. O’Neill, 95, formerly of Titusville, passed away Saturday evening January 4, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Oil City. Virginia was born on March 5, 1918 in Oil City, a daughter of the late Donald and Olive Shaul Cochran. She was married to Regis P. O’Neill, Sr. on Nov. 27, 1936 at St. Titus Rectory in Titusville. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1990. Virginia had been employed for over 40 years at the former Robinson’s Wallcoverings in Titusville until her retirement in 1980. She was a member of St. Titus Church. She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Patricia O’Neill Beers and husband Harold of Oil City; five grandchildren, Gerald O’Neill and wife Kathy of Hydetown, Virginia Kurschinski and husband David of Hydetown, Carrie Fox of Titusville, Donald O’Neill and wife Brenda of Titusville, and Michael O’Neill and wife Sherri of Titusville; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two brothers, Donald L. Cochran, Jr. and wife Pat of San Antonio, TX and Robert Cochran and wife Jean of Winthrop, Maine; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Regis P. “Pat” O’Neill, Jr. on Sept. 16, 1987, and a sister, Dora Kerr. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Wednesday from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Fr. Walter E. Packard, pastor of the Titusville Catholic Community, as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the charity of one’s choice.
