Obituary of George W. Anthony
Mr. George W. Anthony, 72, of 2140 Gladstone Ct., Erie died at 2:40 AM on Sunday, February 23, 2014, at the Golden LivingCenter in Titusville.
George was born on December 21, 1941 in Titusville to the late Golden G. and Anna Louise Rice Anthony. He married Twilla Alcorn on July 28, 1972 in Titusville. She preceded him in death on August 28, 2003.
He was a graduate of Pleasantville High School in 1961.
George has been working as a volunteer for the past 26 years for the Sisters with the Emmaus Food Pantry in Erie.
He enjoyed staying in shape by riding his bicycle, taking long walks and fishing.
George is survived by his sister, Annabelle Anthony of Titusville; 7 nieces and nephews, Jerry Wonderling and wife Dorothy of Meadville, Terry Wonderling, Melanie Roofner and husband Chris, Michael Wonderling and wife Heidi all of Titusville, Joyce Anthony, Vicki Anthony and Sara Knight all of Erie; his very close friends the Sisters at Emmaus in Erie; and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Golden G. Anthony, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Patricia Anthony and Katherine Anthony.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM and on Thursday from 1 to 2 PM at which time the service will be conducted by Rev. Alberta Smith, Chaplain for Asera Care Hospice in Erie, officiating.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.
