Obituary of Anne Dubiel

Mrs. Anne Dubiel, 92, died at 1:35 a.m., on Friday, March 14, 2014, at the Consulate Retirement Village, in Canonsburg. She formerly lived at 212 West Bloss Street in Titusville. Mrs. Dubiel was born on November 18, 1921 in Titusville to the late John and Julia (Hubitz) Behen. She married John E. Dubiel on August 28, 1943 at St. Walburga Church. Mr. Dubiel passed away on December 21, 1996. She was a graduate of Titusville High School, where she played basketball and was known as “Flash.” She was a life-long member of St. Walburga Church. A working mother well before it was the norm, she was employed by Quality Food Markets as first a cashier and later as deli manager. Throughout her life, Mrs. Dubiel faced each challenge with faith, determination, and humor. Her greatest joy was her family, and every family gathering was a celebration. She took pride in the activities and achievements of her children and their families. She even embraced her role as “gramma” to a succession of “grand” dogs and cats with enthusiasm and love. Mrs. Dubiel’s life is celebrated by a daughter, Patricia Birk and husband Paul of Pittsburgh, PA; a son, Ramon Dubiel and wife Sharon of Canonsburg, PA; a grandson, Jeffrey Birk and wife Nyssa, and four great grandchildren, Dallas, Jocelyn, Ashlyn, and Mackenzie Birk, all of Nashville, TN; a sister-in-law, Maxine Behen, of Titusville; nieces Susan Tracey of Titusville and Maryann Cotterman of Oil City; nephew David Behen of Texas; several great nieces and nephews; along with her dear neighbors on Bloss St., and former Titusville residents Phil and Maria Hinkle. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Dubiel was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Behen, and a sister, Mary B. Laskos. Friends may attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, May 13th at 11:00 AM at St. Walburga Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Catholic Community of Titusville, 513 W. Main St., Titusville, PA 16354 or the Benson Memorial Library, 213 N Franklin St, Titusville, PA 16354.
