Obituary of Jerry L. Millard

Mr. Jerry L. Millard, Sr., 66, of 2369 Wallaceville Rd., Titusville passed away at 12:10 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Millard was born on April 19, 1947, in Titusville to the late Clinton and Stella Seeley Millard. He married Georgia Hagerty on December 6, 1972 in Townville. He attended Townville area schools. Jerry was a veteran of the US Army having served during the Vietnam War from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1972. He was employed as a straightener for 20 years with Cytemp Specialty Steel Corp. , drove a logging truck for Cubbon Lumber, and worked with Advance Cast in Meadville. He was last employed by Polk Center until his retirement in 2009. Jerry was a member of the Bruce Shorts Post #5958 VFW and a previous member and volunteer for the Chapmanville Vol. Fire Department. His favorite thing to do was work, especially on the family property. He loved to do carpentry but was a jack of all trades. He treasured spending time with his family and having family get togethers where he could entertain the kids with hay rides. Jerry is survived by his wife Georgia of Titusville; 3 children, Michele Balma and husband Anatole of Sierra Vista, AZ, Jerry Millard, Jr. and wife Mary Anne of Killeen, TX, Adam Millard of Titusville; 6 grandchildren, Alexandre, Zacharie, Gabrielle, Zoe, Casey and Devon; a god-son, Todd Millard of Oil City; 7 brothers and sisters, Ronnie Millard and wife Charlotte of Conneaut, OH, William Millard and wife Marilyn of Townville, Patricia Tracy and husband Fred of Hiram, OH, Marty Millard and wife Arlene of Titusville, Daniel Millard and wife Barbara of Oil City, Douglas Millard and fiancé Debbie Lafferty of Titusville, Bruce Millard of Meadville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonda Millard and a brother, James Millard. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Samuel Mabugu, officiating. Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery with full military rites observed. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie Regional Cancer Center 2500 W. 12th St., Erie, PA 16505 or to the Chapmanville Fire Department 458 Meadville Rd., Titusville, PA 16354.
