Obituary of Joan M. Moore
Joan M. Moore, 81, a resident of the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center in Erie, passed away Saturday morning April 12, 2014, at UPMC Hamot in Erie.
Mrs. Moore was born on Sept. 13, 1932, in Titusville, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Jones Brickner. She was married to William B. Moore, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Moore enjoyed spending time with her family. She was beloved for her unselfish acts of kindness, and was a caring and kind helper to all in need; never sparing her time, her advice, or her money.
She is survived by the following children; John Beatty and wife, Shannon, of Titusville, Donald Moore and wife, Susan, of North East, Ilene Castelluccio and husband, Charles, of Titusville, Sharon Hawk and husband, Robert, of Conneaut Lake, Saundra Gates, of Columbus, Ohio, Carol Snyder and husband, Robert, of Titusville, Joan Mae Howard of Columbus, Ohio, Eric Slagle, of Pittsburgh, Kelly Slagle and wife, Laura, of Pittsburgh, Dion Thomas Moore, of Austin, Texas, Leslie Leo, of Illinois, and Mark Standish and wife, Michelle, of Charlotte, N.C.; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a brother, George Brickner, and wife, Bonnie, of Titusville; three sisters, Marie Rodgers and husband, Robert, of Titusville, Betty Lou Cavanaugh and Marian Moon, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Brickner; and three sisters, Harriett Rodgers, Anne Smith and Margaret Perkowski.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m. Further visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Joan’s son-in-law, Pastor Robert Hawk, officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Sarah A. Reed Retirement Center, c/o Joan Moore Fund, 227 W. 22nd St., Erie, Pa., 16502.
Interment will be in Jamison Corners Cemetery.
