Obituary of John F. Noel

Mr. John F. Noel, Sr., 89, of 835 Meadville Rd., Titusville died at 5:08 PM on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Titusville Area Hospital. Mr. Noel was born on May 14, 1921 in Akron, OH to the late Orie G. and Edna Nies Noel. He married Florence M. Butler on Nov. 12, 1943 at the Pleasantville Methodist Church. Mrs. Noel died on June 6, 2005. He was a graduate of Sunville Academy and Colestock High School. Mr. Noel retired as a Master Gunnery Sgt. in the US Marine Corp having served during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a life member of the R.L. Green Detachment Marine Corp League, Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW, and the Marine Nightfighters Assoc. He was a current member of the First United Methodist Church, the Oddfellows, and Titusville F.& A.M. 754. Mr. Noel is survived by his son, John F. Noel, Jr. and his wife Donna of Titusville; two granddaughters, Shannon Jackowicz and her husband John of Louisa, VA, Holly Varndell and her husband Dan of Guys Mills; four great grandchildren, Jonathan and Noel Jackowicz, Sophie and Bailey Varndell; two sisters, Jean Coryea of Titusville, Harriet Nelson of Oil City; and a dear friend, Phoebe Dickerhoff of N. Jackson, OH. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert G. Noel; and a sister, Anna Mae Williams. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St., Titusville on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Funeral services will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church on Thursday at 11:00 AM with Rev. William Blair officiating. Interment will be in Chapmanville Cemetery. Family asks that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Benson Memorial Library 213 N. Franklin St., Titusville, PA 16354 or to Titusville Area Hospital Cardiac Rehabilitation Center 406 W. Oak St., Titusville, PA 16354. FLOWERS
