Obituary of Ruth A. Sparks
Mrs. Ruth A. Sparks, 89, of Pleasantville, passed away Friday morning May 9, 2014 at her residence.
Mrs. Sparks was born on May 17, 1924 in Oil City, a daughter of the late Charles and Oakie Caldwell Moon. She was married to Russell C. Sparks on July 10, 1941 in Tionesta. He preceded her in death on May 1, 1986.
Mrs. Sparks had been employed at the former Presbyterian Home in Titusville as a nurse for over 20 years until her retirement. She had also been previously employed at the former Fieldmore Hill Rest Home in the 1950’s and was also a private duty nurse.
Mrs. Sparks had attended the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed baking.
She is survived by a son, Ellsworth “Pete” Sparks, and a daughter, Martha Sparks, all of Pleasantville; three grandchildren, Tonia Frank and husband Donald of Erie, David Sparks and Shawn Sparks of Conneaut Lake; 6 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; two sisters, Peggy Tucci and husband Richard of Venango, and Charlotte Robertson of Dover, DE; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, William, and Byron Moon; and three sisters, Frances Skiba, Dorotha Browder, and Joan Proper.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday May 13th from 7 to 9 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Rev. William Hopkins, pastor of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene, officiating.
Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pleasantville.
The family asks that memorials be made to Hospice of Crawford County 310 N. Monroe St. Titusville, PA 16354.
