Obituary of Vergil G. McCauley

Vergil G. McCauley, 94, formerly of 149 S. Main St. Pleasantville and of 227 Water St. Titusville died Saturday, May 31, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Titusville. Mrs. McCauley was born on October 14, 1919, in Titusville to the late Guy and Jane Bury Densmore. She married George W. McCauley on April 25, 1943, in Titusville. Mr. McCauley preceded her in death on January 27, 1986. Vergil attended Pleasantville schools and was a graduate of Pleasantville High School, class of 1937. She was a graduate of Florence Butler Business School in 1938, and she received her LPN degree from Vo Tech in Oil City with the class of 1968. She worked as a secretary at the Printz Company and for the Employment Office in Titusville for several years. She then worked as an LPN at Sunset Manor and the Presbyterian Home in Titusville until her retirement in 1992. Vergil was a member of the Pleasantville Community Church and occasional organist when needed. She was one of the oldest members of the Pleasantville Women’s Club. She was also a member of the Senior Citizens of Pleasantville, and the Titusville BPW. She is survived by her two sons, Brian C. McCauley and wife Bonnie of Titusville, Colin C. McCauley of Meadville; two grandchildren, Cassandra McCauley of Titusville and Cody McCauley of Texas; one great granddaughter, Caytlon McCauley; and three nieces, Mary Fadden and husband Joe, Charlotte Schaffner and husband Jim, and Cathy Kline and husband Charlie. In addition to her parents and husband; Vergil was preceded in death by an infant son, Shawn M. McCauley and an infant daughter Rebecca J. McCauley; a grandson, Josh McCauley; and a brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Betty Densmore. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2 to4 and 7 to9 PM. Additional viewing will be on Wednesday from 10 to 11 AM at the Pleasantville Community Church with the funeral service to follow conducted by Rev. Shawn Jacobson, pastor of the church, Officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Pleasantville. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pleasantville Community Church, 343 W. State St. Pleasantville, PA 16341 or to a charity of one’s choice.
