Obituary of Joseph H. Kaster

Joseph H. “Joe” Kaster, 82, of 217 E. Central Ave. Titusville, passed away Thursday evening June 5, 2014 at the Titusville Area Hospital. Joe was born on October 24, 1931 in Titusville, a son of the late Adam and Florence Warshick Kaster. He was married to Dolly Briggs on July 23, 1955 at St. Walburga Church. Joe was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He entered the service on Nov. 28, 1952 in Pittsburgh and was honorably discharged on Dec. 22, 1960 with the rank of Private First Class. He had been employed at the former Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. in Titusville for over 30 years from where he retired. He was a member of St. Titus Church. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, visiting the casino, and doing puzzles. Joe is survived by his wife of Titusville; four children, Dorothea Lingo and husband David of Titusville, Janice Kinney and husband Ray of Centerville, Joseph E. Kaster of Titusville, and Loretta Warner and boyfriend Harvey David of Moncks Corner, SC; 14 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a brother, Carl Kaster of Silvercreek, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kalyn Kaster and David Lingo; four brothers; and three sisters. Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home 303 N. Washington St. Titusville on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 AM at St. Titus Church with Fr. Walter E. Packard as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Catharines Cemetery with full military rites conducted by officers and members of the Cleo J. Ross Post 368 American Legion and the Bruce Shorts Post 5958 VFW. The family asks that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
